ASSESSMENTS
ASSESSMENTS AT MIND + ME
Mind and Me Therapy and Assessment provides Cognitive and Academic Assessments designed to assist children, adolescents and adults in realising their academic, social and emotional potential.
Cognitive assessments are a starting point in terms of identifying a person’s unique profile of cognitive, academic, social, emotional, behavioural and executive functioning strengths and weaknesses. Thus allowing us, as psychologists, to provide holistic support by working collaboratively with parents, teachers and other significant role players to either strengthen areas of challenge, overcome them, or in some cases bypass them completely during the learning process.
We are able to conduct numerous cognitive, scholastic and psychological assessments tailored to your needs. All of our assessments come with written reports and feedback sessions. Our reports are easy to read and contain practical strategies. Other reports are available including behavioural assessments and reports to support funding applications.
Cognitive Assessments
Cognitive assessments are essential when diagnosing intellectual disability, giftedness, learning difficulties, dyslexia, working memory deficits and auditory processing issues.

We also look at academic potential, emotional contributors, concentration ability and visual and auditory

Assessments
Emotional assessments provide insight into an individual’s experience of their environment and their interpersonal relationships, as well as feelings about themselves. Emotional assessments are done in conjunction with the history and the observations made at the time of the assessment. It should be noted that these feelings are not fixed over time, but rather a subjective glimpse into the perception/s of the individual. For the social-emotional screening, the following areas are evaluated:

-
Emotional Intelligence
-
Self-Concept
-
Self-Confidence
-
Self-Esteem
-
Social Perception
-
Social Skills
-
Family Dynamics
-
School Perceptions
-
Emotional Inner World

Behaviour assessments are completed in order to diagnose or assist in the management of challenging behaviour that may exist for your child such as ADHD, ODD and Autism. These often involve parent/teacher checklists and observations. We regularly make use of the Conners, BASC and BRIEF questionnaires.
Academic Assessments
There are times when a comprehensive cognitive assessment is not indicated but rather a specific concern regarding scholastic performance, this less intensive assessment is conducted. Depending on the specific concern, the areas that may be assessed include:

-
Reading
-
Written Language
-
Spelling
-
Mathematics
-
Oral Expression
-
